SUMMIT -- On Saturday, March 7, the GFWC Summit Junior Fortnightly Club will be presenting its Thirteenth Annual Travel and Service Auction at a new location -- Corpus Christi Church, 234 Southern Boulevard, Chatham, NJ. The preview will start at 7 pm. The auction will start at 8 pm.
Participants will be able to bid on a diverse collection of over 80 exciting trips and hotel accommodations ranging from a relaxing weekend at some of New York's finer hotels, to a cruise down the Nile. A delicious complimentary buffet dinner, complete with desserts, wine, beer and soda, will add to the evening's enjoyment. The auctioneer will be Summit resident, John Mell.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Arthritis Foundation, New Jersey Chapter's Neighborhood Lyme Disease Prevention Program. Knowledge about the prevention of Lyme disease is of particular importance to New Jersey residents. Unfortunately, our state has one of the five highest numbers of reported cases of Lyme disease in the country. The disease is transmitted to humans via a bite from an infected tick If left untreated, Lyme disease can cause a painful, disabling form of arthritis.. The Arthritis Foundation's mission is of critical importance since Lyme disease can be successfully treated if detected in its early stages. Moreover, it can be easily prevented by taking simple precautions.
The GFWC Summit Junior Fortnightly Club is a non-profit women's service organization. It draws its membership from over seven towns in Northern New Jersey.
